I have some big news to share! The Sim Quarterly is excited and thrilled to announce that FionaFei will be our next Artist in Residence beginning on March 1, 2020.
If you are not yet familiar with her or her work you are in for a real treat. She has an amazing way of bringing art to life in our virtual world using 2-D and 3-D elements to immerse her visitors.
Fiona is a Chinese American artist, classically trained in oil painting and electronic media. She spent many of her earlier years compositing oil landscapes on canvas but soon came to love non-photorealism renderings as well.
Her most recent series is called Shui Mo. Here she celebrates the artwork of her ancestry, Chinese ink brush painting and builds a traditional Chinese landscape painting that you can enter and engage with—where every view is different because of its dimensional nature.
She was recently featured as the first in a series that Second Life is putting together called, “Made in Second Life”. Her episode is called Art Made in Second Life.
The second announcement to share is that The Sim Quarterly was recently featured in the January 2020 edition of Eclipse Magazine to discuss what is going on at The Sim Quarterly! It was very nice to sit down with them and share what we have done so far and what the future holds for the sim and our artists.
On a final note, I’d like to take another moment to thank Cica Ghost so very much for her amazing builds while she was the Artist in Residence this past quarter. We will miss her at The Sim Quarterly but can’t wait to see her next works in Second Life! The exhibit will close on Saturday, February 1 at 12am SL time. If you would like to see some of the amazing pictures that visitors and group members have taken while seeing Donkeys and Rocks, please take a look through The Sim Quarterly’s Flickr group page.
Thank you so much for visiting The Sim Quarterly and helping the Artists in Residence feel welcome.
